Estelí

ReadTalkHistoryEdit

Estelí is a growing region and manufacturing centre in northern Nicaragua, and the single most important production hub in the modern premium cigar industry.

Volcanic soil and a dry season suited to curing made the valley attractive to Cuban growers displaced after 1959. What began as farms became the densest concentration of cigar factories anywhere outside Cuba.

Terroir

Leaf grown here is characteristically full-bodied and peppery, with ligero from Estelí used across the industry to add strength to blends grown elsewhere.
