- Grand Cru descends from Davidoff's Château series, the Cuban-made vitolas named for Bordeaux estates that began with the Château Latour in 1946. When production moved to the Dominican Republic the estates became numbers, and the renamed line made its worldwide debut in 1991. Today it is an Ecuador-grown Connecticut wrapper over Dominican binder and filler, a step fuller than Signature and still unmistakably in the house's mild register.
