- CAO Gold was the company's first Nicaraguan line, introduced in 1996 at Plasencia's Estelí factory when the market wanted milder cigars, and it has held that seat in the portfolio ever since. An Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler, and a Brazilian Maduro-wrapped Gold Maduro shares the interior blend. CAO rates both versions mellow to medium.
